River View Campground is a “Good Sam Park” campground, located on the edge of the Straight River near Owatonna, in South Central Minnesota.  The campground offers seasonal sites as well as daily and weekly site rentals.   They offer sites with water & electric and also sites that include sewer.

River View has one small camper cabin which would sleep 3-4 people.  It contains a set of single sized bunks and a futon, small frig and table.  The bathrooms, which are updated and very clean, are only a few yards from the cabin.  The cabin also has a patio area with a fire pit.  This is a very affordable alternative to camping at only $50/night for two people.

We have camped at River View only two times, both times we had our young grand children with us.  Both visits were “off-season” so we were not able to experience the pool or other summer activities, including mini-golf.  Our grandchildren enjoyed the play area and since we camped in mid-May, during the planting season, they loved watching the many tractors traveling on the adjacent country roads. We enjoyed the friendly staff and well-kept facilities.  We camped near the seasonal sites, and those who were around us were very friendly.  This is also a pet-friendly campground.

Although we usually prefer camping in more rustic surroundings, we felt that River View was a refreshing alternative for a quick weekend get-away. Some of the campsites are rather close together and the campground is in close proximity to State Highway 14 which is a four-lane, but the traffic is not too bad at night and you get pretty used to the sounds of the road. All in all, I would give this campground a good rating for family camping.  For more information, visit their website at River View Campground.
