This past weekend (as with the past four weekends) we had to go to Waseca, MN to clean out my in-law’s home for a quick sale. Since Waseca is our home town there are many times we need to go down there for family responsibilities. Luckily we have our camper to pull down and stay in so we don’t have to spend money on hotel rooms….or sleep where hundreds of others have gone before!
We usually prefer camping in State Campgrounds, but we found a very nice campground in the nearby community of Owatonna by the name of River View Campground . Since we were basically just needing a place to park our camper so we could go back in the evenings for rest we were not looking for a camping “experience.” However, we ended up really liking this place. It is located on the Straight River in farming country. It was fun watching the many tractors go by preparing for the planting season. The campground seems like it has a lot to offer for a fun family weekend or a seasonal camper.
Prior to arriving at the campground I received several emails detailing upcoming events for the weekend, such as an exercise class, an opportunity to sign up for a massage, a stuffed-baked potato feed, and a crafty class for children to make a mother’s day gift. It appears they have different events each weekend.
The owners of the campground, Steve and Deb Charles, were very friendly and flexible with us in finding the right site, where to park our cars, delivering our wood and planning upcoming visits. I am hoping to plan a future visit with girl-friends to stay in the camper cabin they have available.
Until next time….Happy Camping!
